This section of the website focuses on networking opportunities for teachers.
The easist way to network is to visit the many online discussions [http://www.textmapping.org/discussions.html] on the web. Our list of online discussions [http://www.textmapping.org/discussions.html] provides a fast way to cut through the chatter and find conversations that are of interest to you.
Listservs [http://www.textmapping.org/listserv.html] (a.k.a. email discussion groups, or "mailrings") tend to be more focused and professional than online discussions. Participation in listservs is most often limited to subscribers; subscriptions are almost always free. Limiting participation to subscribers helps ensure that those involved in the conversation are more committed to the process, that the conversation will stay on-topic, and that most of the comments will be informed and thoughtful. Our list of listservs [http://www.textmapping.org/listserv.html#listOflistservs] provides a fast way to locate listservs that may of interest to you.
SIGs [http://www.textmapping.org/sigs.html] (Special Interest Groups) provide a means for teachers to take a more formal role in formulating and guiding policy and practice. Our list of SIGs focuses on groups which are involved in reading comprehension.
The research hub links to specific project pages for ongoing research. These pages are the "community centers" where teachers and researchers can come to network, share insights and viewpoints, and work together on matters related to a specific research project.
Collaboration is an important part of networking. There are many ways for you to collaborate [http://www.textmapping.org/collaborate.html] with us here at the Textmapping Project. To get you started, we have created a short "wish list" [http://www.textmapping.org/collaborate.html#wishList].
